A calm, open-source alternative to OneTab

OneTab is great at one thing: collapsing every open tab into a single list to free up memory. TabCabin keeps that “close it, it’s safe” feeling, but gives your tabs a home you will actually come back to — boards, notes, reminders and search — and syncs your computers when you sign in.

OneTab is a free Chrome extension that turns your open tabs into a list on one page, from where you can restore them individually or all at once.

Why people pick TabCabin

  • Saved tabs land in groups you name, instead of a growing list sorted by date.
  • Add a note, a to-do or a reminder to anything you save, so you remember why you kept it.
  • Find any saved page with Ctrl+K, including your open tabs and bookmarks.
  • Keep the same boards on every computer, through the built-in sync or a server you run, or stay fully offline.

When OneTab may suit you better

  • You only want to dump tabs quickly to save memory and rarely come back to them.
  • You like sharing a list of tabs as a public web page.

Moving your tabs from OneTab

  1. In OneTab, use Restore all on a list to reopen its tabs.
  2. In TabCabin’s open tabs panel, click Save all tabs and pick or create a group — the tabs close as they are saved.
  3. Repeat for each list, then rename the groups and add emoji headers.
